FIRST TWO STEPS
WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOUR FIRST CLASS
Okay, so you've decided to attend your first class. Now what?
If you're like every other person who's ever decided to do anything new, you're probably wondering at least a few things. What to wear? What to bring? Where do I go to find lessons? How much will this cost? The good news is: you don't need anything fancy. Most people generally wear low-level "country" attire. In other words, comfortable jeans, a top you can move in, and boots. However, you can wear just about anything that you can move and feel comfortable in. It will be helpful, however, to find shoes that slide a little with a smooth bottom. A worn-out pair of inexpensive sneakers work great.
Next up: what to bring. Honestly? Just yourself and maybe a bottle of water. That’s it. You don’t need special gear, a partner, or any dance experience. Most people walk in feeling nervous and walk out wondering why they didn’t start sooner... Another great thing is that a lot of these classes are free or very minimal cost. Most of the time, you can look at country bars in your area and they will likely tell you if they have classes, what ages are welcome (usually all ages, 18+, or 21+), and how much it will cost.
Lastly, if you’re worried about looking silly, messing up, or not knowing the steps — trust me, everyone starts in the exact same place. You’ll learn, you’ll laugh, and you’ll surprise yourself with how quickly it clicks.
You’re ready. Let’s get you dancing.
